Trying too hard?!?!?!

It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.
Theodore Roosevelt
Sorry it's been awhile since the last post. While trying to figure out what to write about, I was looking through the discussion group on Facebook and noticed that there is a recurring theme. That theme appears to be that everyone feels they are trying SO hard to stop or to keep from falling into old habits. I wonder if maybe we as a whole are trying TOO hard. Now, that might sound weird at first, but I wonder if we are being too hard on ourselves. Yes we should stay safe and not cause more harm to ourselves, but the more we try not to the more the temptation creeps into make us think about it non-stop which just makes us more prone to do something that we shouldn't. Taking it a step further, maybe we are too uptight or too rigid with life. Do you let everything bother you? Are they really big things or just small things we turn into big things? Lets say you get yelled at by someone, instead of deciding that they are correct in yelling at you and harming yourself why don't you let it roll off your shoulders and talk to them in a civilized fashion about it. If we work things out with others then there's less for us to hold in and/or being angry and upset about. So instead of bottling everything up and harming ourselves, we should do the best we can to keep peace, workings out and learn from our experiences. Take a break, count your blessings and all the good things in life, use any other resources possible to try to feel better bout a circumstance or a situation, maybe find someone to talk to about the situation if need be, be flexible, don't take everything so personal and don't hurt yourself! I know this is all easier said than done, but practice makes perfect. Also learn to see that circumstances are well circumstantial, they are not permanent, you can change them or they will change and not stay the way they are forever, but you causing harm can lead to a permanent scar, an addiction or other problems. Please find help if you are thinking of hurting yourself in anyway. Just because you feel you failed one thing does not make you a failure for life.
